More fads from our younger years!

Lottie and I were talking yesterday about things that were in style when I was a kid and things that we were into as youngsters...These two things popped into my mind and came up in our conversation...She thought that it was HILARIOUS that we bought HATS at the Jr. Food Market(or quick shop)as she calls them today!!! And also that we chewed on those toothpicks...Oh, what little MISSISSIPPI kids we were!(but, I wouldn't change a thing)

Those tooth picks were popular when we were in the 6th grade. To this day, when I taste cinnamon, it reminds me of those tooth picks! I can remember buying those hats at Jr. Food Mart, too!!

Angel I had forgotten all about Hot Picks. I loved those things. I remember those hats esp. the black and white ones. I also remember how good the jojos were at Jr food Mart.

Your day was not complete without a stop at Jr. Food Mart. I have not thought about Hot Pix in forever! I am proud to say that I never did buy one of those hats-though I did have one with that beer dog-was it Spudz?-on it.

Well, I was in walking distance of the Jr Food Mart so, we made trips there pretty often...And I loved those cinnamon sticks...SPUDZ MACKENZIE, Stacey...Was that it? he he he :) Oh, and we walked to the Pic Pac during the summer, too! What I wouldn't give for our kids to be able to roam and be so free these days...

PIC-PAC now that is going back a ways. That was a great store too. We also went to a little store called the Jiffie Mart which was right across the street from Thurston's rest. I wonder if anyone remembers COON'S dept. store? It sat where Amsouth main bank sits now and they had an ice cream bar inside next to the toy isle...

OMG..I remember COON'S...I can remember going there with my Papa...That makes me feel really OLD :) I miss "Goin to town"...We don't have TOWN here to go to...But, I can remember goin to town as a kid...Hittin Belk's, Shainberg's(sp? butchered I'm sure), Versie's...And then as I got older, Mom had her store, and I'd be in town with her every Saturday!
